Mushroom burgers are made with ingredients such as mushrooms, oatmeal, garlic, eggs, and bread crumbs. They are are a healthy alternative to beef burgers. Admittedly, I was very skeptical of this recipe when I first tried it. However, I was shocked with the outcome. They were incredibly delicious. This is a great recipe for the vegetarian and meat eater alike. They can be barbecued, fried, or baked in a conventional oven. Serve your mushroom burger up with your favorite bun and condiments.
- 3 cups button mushrooms, diced
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 beaten eggs
- 3 tbsp. olive oil or vegetable oil
- salt and pepper to taste
Add olive oil in a preheated pan. Saute onion and garlic until fragrant and soft. Do not burn garlic; otherwise, it will become biter in taste.
Add in button mushrooms and sprinkle salt all over. Saute for a few minutes, until juices, come out. Turn off heat and set aside.
In a mixing bowl, combine sauteed mushrooms, oatmeal and bread crumbs. Season with pepper to taste. Stir until well combined. Let sit in the fridge for at least 15 – 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes remove from fridge. Shape into a burger patty according to preferred size. Repeat procedure, until mixture, is done.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Fry mushroom burger patty over a medium-low heat, until all sides, are brown. Drain excess oil and aside.
Serve with favorite buns and condiments. Enjoy your mushroom burgers.
