Dave’s Easy Homemade salad dressing is easy to prepare, healthy, and inexpensive. The ingredients can be combined in in minutes. The basis to any homemade dressing is made from a simple vinaigrette consisting of three parts oil to one part vinegar. I prefer my vinegar base a little stronger and usually use a half-and-half mixture. Now that we have our oil and vinegar base, you’re going to add some sweetness, aromatics, and salt to create the perfect homemade dressing. As always, you can adjust the amounts to tweak the dressing to your personal preferences.
- 4 tbsp olive oil (extra virgin recommended)
- 4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 garlic clove (1/8 tsp. minced garlic)
- 1/4 tsp lemon juice
- 3/4 tsp sugar
- 1/8 tsp black pepper
- pinch salt
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl or container. Whisk it well.
If you desire the garlic to be less intense, crush the clove and allow it soak in the vinaigrette for 2 to 3 minutes.
Pour the dressing over your salad and enjoy.
